Hmm, new house or new kitchen?

Chloe and Alwyn McGlashen, Nelson.

For Chloe and Alwyn they found themselves in the position of wanting a new house but like most of us, couldn't afford exactly what they wanted. On reflection there was a lot to love about their current home. It was in a great neighbourhood, they had a huge garden for the kids to play in and, other than the kitchen, the house suited their needs.

They decided the most sensible thing to do was invest their money in a new kitchen, which they hoped would transform their living space and of critical importance, increase the value of their home.

Apart from beautiful kitchen design, Chloe and Alwyn had two very specific things that they wanted to incorporate into the design. As a professional chef, Alwyn wanted stainless steel bench tops for their functionality, while Chloe had plans for a magnificent piece of old French Oak they had in the garage. This piece of timber had to be part of the design.

In such a small space it was a tough brief, but when you look at the before and after photographs, you can see a dramatic transformation has been achieved. Chloe says she is now inspired to cook more exciting food, rather than just 'banging out sausage and mash'. Watch the video, it will make you smile.
