As transformations go, this kitchen is perhaps one of the most dramatic. As Barbara says the old kitchen was old but not the 'nice' old. Now some people might describe the fuchsia coloured bench tops and 1950's style cabinets as retro cool, but the old kitchen was far from functional and as you can see, was also a dark and miserable space. Not the sort of place to inspire you to create in the kitchen.

As a couple they both liked to cook and Barbara loves her baking, in fact we interrupted a busy baking session to interview her. She explained that they decided to move the kitchen away from the cold side of the house with its dreary view of the garage wall and literally make the kitchen the heart of the home.

When asked what she likes about her new kitchen, her eyes light up as she says, "I love the fact we can both work in the kitchen, there's plenty of bench space and when I get up in the morning and look at my kitchen, well it's just the perfect start to the day".

Barbara also loves the design of the kitchen and described how wonderful it was to have a space that the entire family can gather in and enjoy together, something that was impossible before.
