Right Sizing

This newly retired couple were “right sizing” and relocating close to family. As renovations had started on the ancillary apartment, the pair had not worked in the kitchen, although they recognized the original fell short of their needs.

Existing kitchen:

The current kitchen was G-shaped, resulting in a cramped layout with poor flow and limited interaction with surrounding spaces.
Under-bench storage is primarily composed of traditional cupboards, offering limited accessibility and organization.
The fridge and cooktop/canopy are located on the only available wall, restricting layout flexibility.
There is minimal landing space on either side of the hob, impacting functionality.
A drainer tray occupies valuable bench space, further reducing work surfaces.
The kitchen does not currently take advantage of the rural views to the north-east.

Our clients wanted to redesign their existing kitchen to create a more functional, modern, and inviting space within a compact footprint of 7.83 m². The primary goals are to increase usable bench space, improve storage accessibility, and enhance the connection to adjacent dining and outdoor areas.
