Out with the Old

For more than twenty years, this home has held a special place in our client’s life, yet it always carried the potential for something more. She dreamed of an open-plan kitchen and living space centred around a simple pleasure: a breakfast bar where she could sit with a cup of tea, watch her family come together, and take in the view of her beautifully kept garden. To bring this vision to life, a dividing wall was removed, allowing the kitchen to flow seamlessly into the dining and living areas, creating a space that feels open, connected, and inviting.

The design embraces a soft, natural aesthetic, inspired by the client’s love of light tones and warm wood textures. This gentle palette creates a fresh, calming environment that enhances the sense of space while complementing the surrounding garden. At the same time, the design carefully respects the home’s history, thoughtfully incorporating appliances that had been added over time into a more cohesive and efficient layout, improving workflow and ease of movement throughout the space.

Working within a limited budget, simplicity became the guiding principle. Clean lines, practical solutions, and purposeful design choices ensured that every element contributed to both function and beauty. The result is a kitchen that is not only stylish and tranquil, but deeply personal - a space where everyday moments can be enjoyed, memories can continue to grow, and a long-held vision has finally been realised.
