This warm and inviting kitchen, set within my client’s inner-city apartment, reflects his personality and individual style.
A palette of earthy tones, complemented by hints of green and bronze, was selected to create a sense of comfort and character. Texture plays a key role in the design, with tiled surfaces, wallpaper, and timber-look cabinetry adding depth and visual movement. These elements are balanced with black cabinetry and a light Caesarstone benchtop, resulting in a welcoming and cohesive space.
Working within an apartment complex meant certain existing parameters had to be retained, including the placement of the kitchen along the back wall.
As there was no designated dining area, a peninsula was introduced to fulfil this need. This addition provides extra preparation space while also creating a casual area for seating, conversation, and entertaining.
With natural light limited to that entering from the balcony, the design focused on maintaining open, uncluttered spaces and incorporating thoughtful lighting to enhance brightness. The benchtop height was tailored to suit the client’s needs, while the 2700mm ceiling height was maximised with full-height cabinetry, helping to create a greater sense of space and vertical scale.
