Undertaking major renovations on their 1930’s bungalow, our client wanted a kitchen that was functional and provided the wow factor in their newly added living area extension.
We were involved early, the client brought in their plans before going to council so we could make sure the kitchen would work.
These clients wanted the kitchen to be functional but also serve as the social hub of the house, and since it would be their forever home, a bit of luxury was a must.
Being a chef and loving to entertain, the 900mm Smeg free-standing oven and their big American-style double fridge were keepers, so designing around them was not negotiable.
One of the challenges was going to be incorporating the pantry and laundry in the same space. The clients wanted the laundry/pantry space to house all their small appliances, a single fridge and microwave. They felt a white kitchen would be too stark for their bungalow style home and wanted a modern style that would also work with their furniture and the era of their home.
