This kitchen is part of a historic building. Due to the building’s unique structure and maintaining the protected frontage, some windows are lower than typical, influencing the cabinetry positions and design.
This client enjoys entertaining but doesn’t cook often, so functionality focuses on a striking aesthetic with seamless entertaining elements. A new bar area is a key feature, enhancing the kitchen’s social atmosphere.
The design features dark woodgrain cabinetry for a rich, moody feel, contrasted by a bold, marble benchtop—a preference for Dekton—with gold and brown warm undertones. A feature island was an essential part of the brief, with space constraints it was designed to float off the wall rather than sit centrally. Waterfalls add impact and Brass fixtures contribute to maintaining elegance.
Timber overlay flooring was chosen to complement the home’s character. Plumbing locations were retained due to the construction and built in to be camouflaged into the walls.
The result is a sophisticated, inviting space that blends historic charm with modern luxury—perfect for both intimate gatherings and vibrant cocktail nights.
