A whole new view

Our clients bought the section their home is built on from their mother when she sub-divided the old family homestead 40 years ago.

They knew they could do so much more with the space but had no idea how it could be different.

One partner really wanted to open things up and modernise the home while keeping the feel of the original home. His one request was “no handles”. For the other, the kitchen lacked storage space. There was a large pantry cupboard in the laundry to help store extra dry goods, but we also found pantry goods stored under the sink as the kitchen and extra pantry space was still too limited.

The house had beautiful wood flooring that the client wanted to keep, along with their fridge and microwave. They wanted their microwave to be the same height as it worked well for them.

They love to entertain their grown-up children and often have more than one living back at the family home. The laundry room was very tight with the washer, dryer and sink along one wall and a double pantry opposite, so they wanted to create more storage and space.
