A touch of country

These clients wanted a quaint country-style kitchen that they could fill with their own charm and frame the picturesque semi-rural settings.

It was important to have colour in this kitchen and balance it with the colour in the surrounding living spaces. Therefore, we colour blocked the cabinetry, using a gentle beige, white tone of the base cabinets and a stunning Fjiord colour on the tall and wall units.

Dezignatek Sicily profiled fronts were applied to the most visible cabinets from the living room to provide the understated modern country feel without stretching the budget by applying this finish across the entire kitchen.

The Lancelot Oak Durpopal bench was chosen to be durable and bring warmth to this country style kitchen. It is a great low cost and low maintenance benchtop which ticked all the boxes for the clients.

When planning the footprint, it was important to the client that all the plumbing and cooking stayed in their existing positions.

Accessible storage was key for this client as health issues meant three corner cabinets were difficult to use. The introduction of Hafele mondo units to two of the corners meant these spaces were no longer a waste of space. One corner was removed and replaced with a bar back cabinet with internal drawers for easy access. This change also meant the drawers within the kitchen were able to increase in width.

Floating shelves and décor cubes were added to either side of the wall units and above the tall units so the client could display cherished items. These were done in Melteca planked urban oak to tie in with the wood look bench.
