Brief ‘The Illusionist’

Great things come in small packages, and that is exactly what the clients wanted from their existing space. Without changing the services or increasing the footprint we needed to get this kitchen not only working better but to be a feast on the eye.

Solutions
The wall dividing the kitchen and dining room was lowered to connect the two spaces and to get more natural light into the kitchen.
To make the kitchen feel big and bright sea fog cabinetry was selected.
Sovereign oak was used as the wall unit and bench pantry cabinets with but with a perpendicular grain direction to accentuate the contrasting cabinetry lines.
LED strip lights were recessed into the overhead units to make the cooking zone feel larger and to also highlight the stone splashback.
Blum tandembox drawers were added throughout to get the most volume of storage available
A Hafele mondo was added to the corner to improve accessibility.
The drawer and door fronts have 45-degree beveled fronts to enhance the clean clines
Silestone eternal serena in a suede finish was used as the bench surface and splashback for its durability and low maintenance
The bench depth was increased into the living room and the bar stool space was removed to not only allow for a larger serving area but additional drawers
Slatted wood paneling was used to add the texture and the wow factor.
The existing tall pantry was removed and replaced with a narrower bench pantry to increase the working area around the cooktop
Wall units were removed and replaced with floating shelves so the clients could add their own personality to the space.
The fridge was fully integrated to maintain the modern design aesthetic
