Design by Suzie Boyle – Kitchen Studio Newmarket/Greenlane
The Graham’s spend many hours in the kitchen, cooking, baking and socialising. Their original kitchen was well loved and starting to show signs of its age. They wanted to update to something more modern and something they could love every day.
Their main concerns when designing this space were.
Island as a stand out feature
No Handles and Clean lines
Non Staining worktops
Solutions
Non staining work surface – The Grahams love to cook with colour and their last bench had many stains. This time they wanted a work surface that would not show the wear or stains from constant use. The solution to this was an acrylic bench, 100% non porous material that can be re polished time and time again meaning the Grahams could cook without concern.
Island Stand Out Feature – To make the island the focal point of the kitchen a beautiful contrasting granite was used. The texture and colour of the granite create interest and draw the eye.
A waterfall end was added to give the island presence and increase the surface area of the titanium white granite.
Clean Lines – The client wanted a handleless look so a lacquer door with a groove finger grip detail was used . The drawers used in the design were wide and externally only split in two with a third hidden internal drawer. This reduced the visible lines giving a more streamlined look.
