Kitchen Studio Design Award 2021Showroom - Kitchen Studio Palmerston North
Runner Up - Best Kitchen Under $25K
Just because this kitchen is small doesn’t mean it can’t make a big impact.
The first thing my client spoke to me about was she wanted her new kitchen to be modern, sophisticated, and clean lines.
This kitchen is incredibly light filled especially in the morning so I thought it would be able to take a darker charcoal colour within the cabinets and then contrast with a clean white colour and bring them all together with a beautiful benchtop that has similar tones. The charcoal cabinets on the base anchors the kitchen and the white on the top gives an illusion of space and airiness and all together make for a very modern pallet.
This kitchen is only just under 9m2 every inch needed to be utilised and with the introduction of a corner mondo and a blind sink unit all the corner space is well used. Large drawers either side of the oven as well as a spice pull out everything is at the fingertips when cooking.
One of the many showstoppers of the space is the large benchtop pantry. The reason I decided on a benchtop pantry was to give this small kitchen a feeling of space. A large traditional pantry would have boxed the kitchen in and made it feel small but having it on bench means my client can throw open the doors and use the benchtop appliances without any bother as well as has all her food neatly stored – everything has its place.
This super chic small space offers practical working design and a stunning modern aesthetic to boot.
