Kitchen Studio ChristchurchClient Brief
This young bachelor with a central city pad wanted to transform his apartment living into a super stylish pad to entertain and enjoy with his friends.
Requirements:
No compromises on style, it's got to be WOW.
Mood lighting compulsory.
Bar unit to tie in, but not look like a kitchen & to include bar fridge.
Tight budget, but must look expensive.
Incorporate dining, so rest of the area can be lounge living.
Solutions:
We used melamine to keep costs down and put the budget into the stone benchtops and the custom oak dining table.
Design of bespoke table, with square ‘border’ end, solid supporting oak “sheet on other end and long shelf along bar back designed to deliver WOW impact.
“French Oak” melamine chosen for overhead cabinets to tie in with solid Oak used for timber dining table and tie the scheme together.
Bar unit – stylish and sophisticated “Black” melamine in velvet combined with black stone in gloss for sophisticated bar feel. French Oak cabinets and same handles (but in satin black), plus lighting connect the bar to the kitchen.
Bar unit was designed to accommodate a regular bar fridge within, hence the depth beyond the existing recess.
Design of dining table and connection to the kitchen allows the client to enjoy formal dining without taking space out of his living area.
Mood lighting from both the kitchen and the bar transforms the entire living space, creating a warm inviting atmosphere, glowing with style.
