Brief  ‘Artistic Expression’
The Clients were a young family that were undertaking a large extension to their home. The extension provided them with opportunity to have a large living/dining/entertainment area and the Kitchen needed to work harmoniously into this. The Kitchen needed to be modern, ergonomic, and unique enough to aesthetically please the Clients.

Creating a space that was good for entertaining as well as being functional was crucial. Significant bench space, left to right flow and sufficient storage was required. The Clients didn’t like the idea of having the sink on the window wall, they wanted to be facing their guests/family so this needed to be accommodated to. The space needed to work well with the rest of the room, a galley style Kitchen would be the best way to achieve this.

Ensuring that more than one person would be able to use the Kitchen at once was another key concept to keep in mind. Being a young family, it is very common for them to have a few people in the Kitchen at any one time. Aesthetically, the Client wanted contrast, “perfect imperfection” and something that would stand out from other designs. A feature splash back was very important to the client, as well as décor cabinets. This design met the clients brief perfectly.
