The client states that “the kitchen is the most important part of the house, it is a piece of furniture to show and it needs to be the focal point”. They have special room call “Puja” (praying room) right in-front of the kitchen. The kitchen needed to meet Indian philosophy call “Vaastu”. The kitchen was required to function as the cooking space and also as an Indian dance party room on special occasions and it’s a challenge.
Requirements:
- Open plan kitchen
- More organised storage space
- Overall look and design – Modern
- Bench top – White sleek look
- Extension working bench top to hide their small appliances
- Splash back – A focal point of the kitchen with a beautiful tropical view
- Lighting – Ambient
- Flooring – Warm and easy to maintain
- Colour – Glossy white
Solution:
- “Vaastu” Indian philosophy considers that the Cook top should not be located opposite the puja room – Cooktop was positioned on the North east side of the kitchen
- Mini scullery provides an extension of the working bench.
- Every cabinet utilises special accessories to provide more organised storage space
- For the overall look and feel, the client chose white gloss finish cabinets to meet a modern, clean and sleek looking kitchen
- Printed glass splash back brings a fresh and sleek look to the kitchen.
- Strip lighting underneath the flying shelves and under the Island bench gives a glamorous and ambient feel.
- Recessed aluminium handles complete the sleek modern design of this kitchen.
